War of the Wings was pretty nice. The weather Saturday was very nice once it warmed up. Sleeping in a tent was a bit on the Quaint and Pictureesque side. For the second week in a row, I got to herald court, and, likewise, I was the object of the last item of business, the particulars of which were not revealed to me in advance.

In this case, Mistress Alisoun (Bambi (classic)) begged a boon and proceeded to read the following Latin text:

RAGNARR REX ET ANNEKE REGINA HERVEUM DE ORMONDE MAGISTRUM PELICANEM, VOCAMUS PER HONORE FIDEQUE IN CURIAM NOSTRAM TEMPORE LOCOQUE MUTUALITER CONSENSUS UT IN NOSTRAM ORDINEM LAUREALEM RECIPIAS.

Ragnarr was following along using his fingers to keep track of what he heard, and then summarized it for those who didn't grok Latin: Herveus, a Pelican, will be inducted into the Order of the Laurel at a future date to be determined by mutual agreement.

I'll be posting a picture of this as well later, but that's the text as best I can read it.

The date is uncertain because of work considerations. I don't know when I get sent to Korea, and whether or not it will interfere with going to Twelfth Night. If I can't go to Twelfth Night, Storvik Investiture is right out as well, as I would expect to be in Korea for several weeks.

If the trip is pushed back to the spring, then both Twelfth Night and Storvik Investiture become potential dates. Each enables certain subsets of folks to attend and makes it difficult for other subsets.

I'm really happy about this. It's been on my mind for some time now, as people who are already Laurels (and others) express their astonishment to me that I'm not a Laurel. It will be good to be able to participate directly in the deliberations of the order, so that I can work to see that other people can be properly recognized.

I want my friends to be able to share the moment with me, and I don't want to make it difficult for them to do so. I'm afraid that I'm going to disappoint some of them. :(

If it can't happen in January, I'll have to examine schedules and see when it can be done later. I hope to get my work schedule sorted out this week.

Wheee!
