Ego-boosting sweetness...

Yesterday morning, I called the WTOP traffic hotline to let them know where traffic was slowing approaching the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. When the person answered the phone, I said "Wilson Bridge, Inner Loop, 210". The person then quizzed me a bit for more information. Clearly, a new person not accustomed to concise reporting. To the experienced pros, that 5-word statement conveys all the information needed in about two seconds. That can be important if they are about to go on the air and this is something they might want to be reporting Right Now.

This morning, I made the same call, but I got Lisa Baden. I gave the report, then told her about yesterday's call, including the surmise that she was new. Lisa allowed as how I had read the situation clearly. Then, she made my morning. I gave her my cell phone number so she could call it and leave a message with her Sooper Seekrit Hotline number. Wheee! I have street cred with Lisa Baden *and* with Bob Marbourg.

Ok, so it's not that big a deal in the bigger picture, but it made me feel good.

...and with Casual Friday coinciding with Halloween, I'm dressed in an unusual take on the former. GNOM GNOM GNOM! We'll see what range of reactions I get...

Sooper Secret Hotline FTW! I've always had good conversations with Lisa and Bob. I know Bob lives near me as he knows every landmark around Beltsville. The scrubs they bring in just don't have a clue about local geography.
