Well that sucks!
Apr. 13th, 2009 07:33 pmHarry Kalas, long time announcer for the Phillies, collapsed in the broadcast booth before today's baseball game. He died a short time later at the hospital. I remember listening to Phillies games "Before Harry".
He was one of the giants.
The pre-game ceremony included a moment of silence for the pitcher who was killed in the auto accident right after winning the opening game, and they added one for Harry right before the first pitch and "Play ball!".
He died doing what he had been doing for ages.
Damn.
