Interesting turn of phrase...

The article in the Washington Post on Sarah Palin's move to Faux Fox "News" includes a remark attributed to Todd Harris, GOP strategist. "This gives her a platform she can use to stay relevant, to stay in the public eye and to flush out some of her policy positions." I find the use of the word "flush" curious. Perhaps he meant "flesh out", but I have not been able to find any evidence that the Post has misquoted him. Frankly, I think "flush out" is an unintentionally apt way to put it.

I suspect he used it as the hunting metaphor, not for plumbing. But it's amusing to be sure.

Whether it's the hunting sense or the plumbing sense, it seems to be a curious way to be putting it.

So many people don't know how to use the English language anymore. "Reign/rein," "gauntlet/gantlet," "populace/populous," etc. etc. etc. Never MIND "lie/lay"!

I think that she's in for quite the flushing out of her opinions when she (inevitably) wants to say something that the network doesn't like.
THAT's gonna be a fun show to watch.

Stay relevant?! STAY?!?! Heh-heh. Heh. HAW!!

...because news anchors get elected to public office more frequently than governors? I'm not seeing the logic here.

Think of the influence thate Beck & Limbaugh have over the GOP-even if neither of them make it to any kind of office, they're setting the message for a large segment of the GOP base.

I was amused! She doesn't know any facts and Fox news generally doesn't report facts. It's a win win for everyone!

You would not believe how many people I work with in IT get that word choice wrong.

I was going to say the same thing. Mostly PMs where I work, but no small amount of others, too.

...and if it were the only phrase they misremembered, I'd be more forgiving.

Internally ;)

Just curious if you could interpret your icon for me...

It's my take on the logo for the Norfolk and Waypal Shipping Company. Coast to coast overnight by rail. Norfolk and Waypal.

I started with the logo of the Norfolk and Western railroad...

I thought it was perfectly apt. Her opinions should be flushed!
