It's gonna take a bit of time to grind back through the friends' posts since I haven't read LJ in twelve days or so.

We went to Ymir and (very sensibly) did not set up the tent. That allowed us to blow town a couple hours earlier with less exhaustion. We also elected to go to Phoenix via Dallas instead of OKC to dodge potential white, messy I-40 across Tennessee. It turns out that it was only about 30 miles further to go the southern route.

We arrived at Estrella 3-ish Monday afternoon, set up the tent, and vomited the contents of the car into the tent. Next stop: Motel 6, where we could take a real shower (welcome after 47 hours in the car) and get dinner.

Estrella was dry. Very dry. Did I mention the dust? Wednesday with the big winds, very dusty. But dry.

Business was lighter than we'd hoped for, but suitable amounts of schmoozing occurred.

On Friday, there were mundanes all over the place. One young girl (10?) and her mother *found us*. Two years ago, said girl was fascinated by MJ's weaving, and got to do some hands-on with the inkle loom. Her parents got her a simple loom of her own that she's done some weaving on. They were looking for us this time. Way cool!

I sat out front with my loom being an "attractive nuisance". It worked, and the attractees were biased toward pretty women. *EG* I also taught a weaver how to do tablet weaving.

By good fortune, I got to sample some really find Scotch. 30 year old Ardbeg. The flask was mostly fumes, and just the fumes were wonderful to smell. I coaxed a couple of drops or so onto my tongue, and they were just heavenly. Life was good!

Sunday was the "Laurels Artisans Prize Exhibition" (or something like that). I went and showed off my current tablet-weaving foo and got good reviews. One of the Laurels told me that she had brought six prizes to give out, and she was giving me her First Prize! Woot! It was cool to chat about my theories with a variety of people. In fact, one Western Laurel expressed astonishment when I rebutted her presumption that I was in that company. All I can do is shrug and point out that they are welcome to correspond with the crown of Atlantia to express that astonshment to them.

The trip home was a bit shorter (only 45 hours in the car) because we managed for the "person not driving" to get better rested. I managed to get a decent night's sleep.

Glad you and your lady are back! Did you get to see the Artemisian refugees from Storvik?

Yep.

...and Rhyrid gave us a couple bottles of some metheglin he made from the honey and cinnamon we gave him. One bottle may be drinkable by Pennsic, but the other is supposed to be put someplace safe for a while.
