So I'm reading rec.aviation.military, and someone posts a simple note there (and crossposted to several other newsgroups) about Tom Fox's body being found. I don't know why it was on-topic for that newsgroup, but it was a tasteful notice.

First respondent opines that not only was he stoopid, but that he was, at the very least, a solid runner-up for a Darwin award. I'm waiting for Fred Phelps to say that his death was a further symptom of America's fall from grace (or however he spews it).

I guess it's ok to spit on the grave of someone working for peace; I'm sure that the respondent mentioned above would be incensed were someone to similarly characterize a soldier who died.

No, I'm not going to go on and on...it's not worth the bile...

*sigh*

Just keep holding Tom in the Light, Herveus, and try to hold the morons in there too - sounds like they need help finding their compassion and love.

Even in death, Tom is working for peace. Folks are talking about his sacrifice and I'm sure that more than one person who read those bile-filled words had a negative reaction to them. And maybe that will help turn the tide.

I'm so sorry Tom didn't make it out. I was really hoping he and the others all would. ((Hugs))

You know, every day I wake up willing to believe that mankind is inherently intelligent, compassionate and good. Most days, my belief is reinforced by the actions of people like Mr. Fox. But every day I also get reminded about just how naive and silly I am to apply my belief to mankind in general.
No matter; people like the respondent cannot diminish the good that people like Fox has done, or the inspiration they provide to others. May Fox's message and mission of peace continue.
