Once more with more details...
Jan. 19th, 2006 09:03 pm...so it appears that Maryland's Finest are not very concerned with getting to the truth of the matter...
The "investigating" officer claims that Heather made an "improper lane change", coming from the far left lane and running into the 18-wheeler. Now, that makes absolutely no sense given that Heather was not coming down I-270, but, alledgedly, the "witnesses" claim that is what happened.
Far more likely is that Heather was tooling along minding her own business when the trucker decided that he was going to move left one lane Right Now and didn't make sure the way was clear. Her first clue something was going wrong was a bang, followed shortly by running straight in to the Jersey wall.
The cop appears to have paid no attention to skid marks.
Oh, and we have no information on the name of the truck driver, nor *his* insurance information, nor the name(s) of the witness(es). The "investigating" officer did not transmit that data. So much for "exchanging" information.
The towing company wants $400 for the tow, mileage, and storage. I've advised giving it to them in dollars. Metal dollars. The insist on cash, donchaknow. They can't refuse it...it's not like pennies.
No, I'm not feeing spiteful at all...
