As of now, I am no longer have corporate entanglements around a day job.
I got the box to return my company laptop this morning, did my final timecard, and sent the computer back. One last paycheck and that's it.
It feels nice to have the change. $employer did not damage the goodwill I had toward them.
Tomorrow, we head up to Pennsic. It will be a new adventure.
The retirement gathering that I was part of (there were three of us all going at once) was really nice, and the high point was three folks from Military Sealift Command N6 came up from Norfolk to help see me off. I was touched. There was a nice card with lots of signatures à la High School yearbooks from folks I worked with on the government side.
I do have to work a bit harder to remember which day of the week it is now, but I have enough clues. Still, there is an element of "everyday is Saturday".
