Convivencia or Atlantian Coronation, that is the question.

Convivencia is closer.

The cook is a known quantity (and that's in the plus column)

Coronation is *not* in Virginia

Coronation is not in "northern Atlantia"

Coronation is in North Carolina, within our operating radius

We can peddle our wares at either

We can't go to both.

Megan has gotten a bit (a lot?) soured on selling at SCA events in Maryland. It feels like we've sort of saturated the market, and she's made peeved remarks about "taking my looms and playing somewhere else". On the other hand, North Carolina is sufficiently "remote" from here that we don't go there much, and so she has not rejected the idea out of hand. We haven't made it to the last several coronations because they've been in Virginia.

I haven't found a compelling case for picking one over the other; certainly I don't have any political statements to make by not showing up for coronation. I like Ragnar, and I don't know of any reason to be worse than neutral about Anneke. I don't know her very well (to the point that I can't summon up an image of her face in my mind). I haven't heard any rumbles that would give me the slightest concern, therefore I give her the benefit of any doubt and presume the best.

We ought to make up our minds soon, but...

Not that my plans are likely to affect yours, but I'll share them anyway. I am contemplating Convivencia. I am not contemplating Coronation. Unless it is unseasonably cold for Labor Day weekend, I will not be wearing either the black or purple dress, and instead will wear the next incarnation of the outfit I wore at Novice.

Recently, I've been overtired because I'm taking an academic class after work and it's a lot of mental energy. But convivencia is a few weeks after the class is over, so I expect to be there.

I'm even thinking of contacting the autocrat about teaching a class (I can't seem to sit still and enjoy events, I have to be *doing* something).

My boyfriend's current deployment is supposed to be over just before the event and if they manage to get him home that week, I may change my plans. However, he may be up for an event, especially if he can find his garb, so we might both be there.

Completely unrelated to where you should go: While waiting in the jury pool today, several people were entranced by the crocheting I'm working on, and by my braiding. I was asked whether I sold my craftwork, and said only rarely, but I know someone who does... and I gave them http://www.whitewolfandphoenix.com - I'm hoping I didn't make any mistakes in writing it down, but if I did, you're still only a google away. She wasn't even put off by my warning that y'all aren't cheap.

Tough call. We don't merchant so that doesn't enter into our decisions. We base it primarily on distance and how interesting we think the event will be.
We are almost certainly going to Coronation. At 4 hours away we consider that close enough to go. If it were 6 hours we might not be going. I have limited vacation and gas prices are still high.

Well, darlin . . . if it makes any difference at all . . . Coronation is likely to be a lot of the same crowd you're going to see at War of the Wings in October . . . one's on the bottom of the barony and the other is on the top . . .

And Conviv? Is that Bunny cooking? I mean, yeah!

Glad I don't have to make the decision for ya, though.

We're leaning toward Coronation, since it's so close by. But, on the other hand, we still have 4 or 5 weeks to decide, since it is so close. (The alternative is staying home and remodeling the bathroom)

I have no clue what I'm doing Labor Day weekend. Maybe recovering from both Pennsic and Post Pennsic Revel? ;-)

Anneke is [livejournal.com profile] anneke on LJ, apparently.

What sort of bribe would you accept in order to come and eat my food?
