Stupid nose.

It's got a tampon in it again. At least this trip to the ER occurred at a sane hour instead of oh-dark-thirty. I'm not sure that the attempt to cauterize the wound was such a good idea. It didn't work, and it's still oozing a bit. Yuck.

Yeah, it's a repeat of the nose-bleed from hell from July.

I hope you feel better soon.

Well, this appliance has a tail, but it's for blowing it up so it stays in. I've been through this once already, and they can just cope at work. If they laugh, I'll laugh with them.

They use tampons in Iraq to plug gunshot wounds too.
When my son was very small he had a ileostomy stoma and we used pads to cover it. The nurses laughed when they saw it but the started recommending it to their other patients.

Probably not what the manufacturers list on the label..... :-)

There are "nasal tampons" specifically for packing noses. The current state-of-the-art ones seem to work pretty well and slide in pretty easily, thanks to the hydrogel coating that lubricates and does other good things to help the clotting.

Yup; my Little Brother has been a volunteer EMT, and he told me a decade and a half ago that his unit regularly used menstrual pads, referring to them as 8x3's. They're designed to soak up blood; what's not to like?

I bet...congratulations on what appears to be a successful roto-rooter job yourself.

If you end up finding a really good nose doc - let us know. Gosling#2 has a similar problem, much milder but much more chronic. Cauterizing seems like an idea but it doesn't really last long enough to get to medical personnel.

I'll be seeing Dr. Hoeck Monday or Tuesday and we'll discuss this. The ER doctor was real unhappy with my BP (as was I) and laid some real blood pressure meds on me. Blarg. But high BP can be one cause of the problem.

Take care of yourself. I finally wound up on BP meds, myself. Curse o' the times, when we start getting grizzled.

Thanks. I need to work harder on the "lose about a third of me" process, although I don't necessarily want to do it too quickly.
