Back to the Land of the Morning Calm
Jan. 23rd, 2008 05:40 amIt's so much less draining to fly in business/first class. As it happened, one of the other guys on the team was on the same flight across the Pacific as I, and we were in the same row, even.
Having two mimosas under the belt before we even push back Did Not Suck. Having Spanish red wine on the dinner menu Did Not Suck. A glass of port with dessert Did Not Suck. Stardust was a very entertaining movie. Kate Magowan is a hot babe.
The trip over was suitably boring. While waiting in BWI, I got into some conversation with a couple of air(wo)men returning home from some TDY in a certain hot place. There were even more soldiers checking in to head over there. I did end up taking a cab from the airport instead of waiting for the free shuttle. I didn't feel like waiting an hour to take an hour bus ride. The bus would have dropped me off up the hill from the hotel; the cab (being a USAFES cab) could also go right on base and drop me off at the front door in a civilized fashion. I went down to the hotel bar and had a pint. Microbrewing and in-house brewing are populare in Korea. The wheat beer was eminently serviceable, especially at $2.50 the pint.
Of course, my body clock is quite whacked out, having to adjust by ten hours. I woke up at 0300 local time (or so) and was not going back to sleep. I've had several hours to do teh intarweb thing, including finding some choice morsels dropped in a two-month-old thread of mine. Oh, the joy.
