Been there. Done that. Did you go up by the Keyhole route, or something more interesting? (I lived in Boulder for eight years before I was in the SCA.)

Not Longs Peak, no. I climbed Mt. Thielsen in Oregon about age 6, almost got killed in a rockfall on Mt. Hood a few years later (I got away with just a twisted ankle because the rock came down next to me instead of over me), bagged Mt. Whitney as a teenager, but I was in my late 20s when I got around to Longs.

When I was young, we always took a multi-week trip somewhere that involved camping and hiking, maybe canoeing.

In 1967, my father had to go to the mine in Butte for a business trip. We drove out, and set up light housekeeping at a campground outside town for a week. After that, we spent another four weeks hitting Yellowstone, Craters of the Moon, Dinosaur, Grand Mesa, Durango, Great Sand Dunes, and more. My uncle lived in Boulder at the time, doing post-doc work at NCAR.
