As was demonstrated in an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.

The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.

The first thing that leapt to mind was Plessy v. Ferguson, which established "separate but equal" as the law of the land until Brown v. Board of Education.

From Wikipedia:

Plessy v. Ferguson, 163 U.S. 537 (1896), is a landmark United States Supreme Court decision in the jurisprudence of the United States, upholding the constitutionality of racial segregation even in public accommodations (particularly railroads), under the doctrine of "separate but equal".

I would have thought she would at least name "Lawrence v. Texas" as I'm sure she has some problems with that. Or maybe the Dred Scott case?

Brown vs. Board of Education was the first I thought of, and would have been the first I named if I were being interviewed by someone (Katie Couric, or anyone else, for that matter) who suddenly said, "Quick! Name me a Supreme Court Case!

I find it interesting that it is you who I think like, Friend. :)

Thank you. It's a bit scary, I suppose. :)

Is the capital F meant to be significant?

IIRC, you're a Quaker, too, right? My father *hates* being called that, insists on Friend. As a gesture of consistency and respect, he won't call Mormons Mormons, always says LDS, too.

Yep.

I'm not fussy about whether you say Friend or Quaker, but I understand. I didn't know you were a Friend as well. Cool.
