I have accepted an offer of employment from Aviture, with a start date of 1 April. I keep doing the same job, just for a different subcontractor.

This will be interesting...

For now, at least, but I'm hoping to eventually move to the not-yet-opened Aberdeen office...

If/when that happens, I'll be commuting up there while we work on locating a suitable dwelling in that neck of the woods.

so of course I went and checked... MARC train 506 leaves New Carrollton 0723, arrives Aberdeen 0833. Going home is tricky though, as the last actual MARC train leaving Aberdeen does so around 1500; there's an Amtrak (A85) leaving at 1721 which accepts MARC weekly and monthly passes, but it's not obvious how far it goes (it *can't* end in Baltimore can it?...) so getting home might involve one or two trains plus possibly either a subway or a bus... thus I'm not sure how viable mass transit really is for that "reverse commute".

...and it's a 52 mile drive or so that takes a bit over an hour without taking into account rush hour traffic through Baltimore...

...and it's about 6 miles from the Aberdeen station to the new office, or about a 15 minute bus ride...

Oh, the A85 would get me to New Carrollton in about an hour.

I smell driving being more time and cost-effective overall...

Congrats! We just found out that while no one is getting laid off no one is getting any cost of living or merit raises either.
