I am particularly heartened by the treatment of bin Laden's body. As I understand it, Muslim practice is to bury the dead promptly. I find it right and proper that he was buried in accordance with Islamic practices -- that respect was paid.

I have seen remarks about heads on pikes and the like. I reject such calls. They are small and petty. We can be better than that.

Moreover, we should be better than that. We are not savage barbarians, no matter what the reigning opinion of the rest of the world may be; we are a civilized people and ought to behave as such.

You'll get no argument from me. I was glad to hear that they treated bin Laden's body with dignity and in accordance with Islamic law. It's nice to know that our country can still demonstrate common decency, especially in this era of viciousness.
