I have not read the official announcement, but once again, the SCA BoD scores an own goal, DDoSing themselves. That seems to happen any time they make a significant announcement as everyone hits the web site to download the document.

But on the other hand, kingdoms are now at liberty to require proof of vaccination and/or negative COVID test as a condition of participation. And that means all in-person activities, not just regular events.

Some kingdoms have already announced dates this takes effect. I'm reliably informed that some kingdoms have explicitly declined to do so. I'm looking at you Trimaris (Florida).

Still, I'm delighted at this attack of sanity. I'm sure they had a lot of letters encouraging/imploring/demanding this action.

The EK Seneschal sent out a note, so that's one grown-ass adult kingdom anyway. Very much looking forward to seeing what the West does, although I'll have to hear about that one third-hand since if it ain't FaceBorg it ain't West Kingdom.

Thanks for the tip! Because I don't play there, I always forget about the value of Reddit as an interkingdom clearing house. Me and my trusty Firefox are willing to go there long enough to check out what people are saying.

There's more in the Western announcement than a simple "we can't because countries"; there's a litany of excuses, including denigration of testing, ID checking, and the safety of vaccinated people possibly contaminating the unvaccinated. Oh, Cradle of Kingdoms, how you disappoint me again.

I expected Trimaris to be out, and possibly Meridies, Ansteorra, Artemisia, and Calontir as well. Definitely watching this one with a scorecard.

Æthelmearc and An Tir have announced that they will require proof-of-vax or recent-negative-test kingdomwide.
Artemisia is also following this where allowed (i.e. not Montana, who has a death-cult state gov't).
Meridies has announced support for the policy and will be implementing it where allowed (i.e. not Florida, see previous remarks about Montana).
Northshield is apparently NOT going to implement the policy.
Reports from Caid say they're probably waiting until after GWW since pre-reg for that has just closed and there likely would be "drastic and painful site issues" at this time.
That's all the update I have right now that wasn't already covered above.

Ah, I had hoped Northshield would be sensible. Alas.

Nothing from Gleann Abhann yet, but Crown List was this weekend and KSen swapped over. Probably trying to get ducks in a row.

(Please please please do the right thing, kingdom)

Quote from Discord regarding the SCA.org server: "It's basically an old TI-85 graphing calculator duct-taped to a rotary phone"

But otherwise YAY! And West's claims of issues due to it covering 2 countries is BS. Because East has no problem dealing with that for this situation.

Yeah, easy enough to say "where allowed" or "in the US", if that's really the concern. I'm guessing it's not and that's just a convenient excuse.
