If you still can't connect to the Internet, visit Verizon Repair.
...and, heard on the phone while holding for "help" with this problem:
"You can do all this online."
Right.
Verizon is creating significant annoyance. Three times in the last ten days, we've had the internet go out. Rebooting the router seems to have been the fix, but it's disappointing, to say the least.
I'm not astonished that the "piece of crap" consumer grade router that I had with the DSL connection (and bought by me in my ignorance) needed periodic reboots, but I expect better out of the gear provided by Verizon. Maybe I'm a foolish optimist.

Date: 2007-07-04 03:56 pm (UTC)A friend of my acquaintance had his 9600 Sportster struck down by Thor and, in the market for a new modem, purchased a Supra internal 14.4 for half the price of a comparable Sportster (Lets not talk about how much my Courier of the same vintage cost, yes? Good!). He followed the instructions carefully, installing with all due reverence, until it came to the matter of drivers. For reasons inexplicable, the disk did not read correctly and thus the drivers would not load. When he contacted Supra to request a new disk, he was informed that that was unnecessary, as he could download the new drivers directly from the BBS. After _10 minutes_ of explaining to the lady why this was impossible and her summarily rebuking his arguments out of hand, he hung up, returned the modem and got another USR, which worked like a charm.
