stitchwitch, I do not think that I will be considering quite the course that you have spoken of, but I fear that this will give further impetus to some significant changes myself -- changes driven in part by non-SCA factors as well.

Update: I have written to both Crown and Coronet (Crown before posting this).
This is just a quick note to inform all order principals of a slight wording change that will take place during Our upcoming curia. This is simply to bring Kingdom Law into a more unified and codified set of verbiage. Nothing in the process of choosing new principals will change, the Crown will still solicit the counsel of the orders before making a decision. Again, this is simply a clarification of wording since there are no "votes" and the selection of order principals has never been based purely on a majority rules scenario. Copied below is the current section of law followed, in italics, by the planned revision:

Re: in translation...
Date: 2008-01-22 03:18 am (UTC)i was offered the same thing by galmr after i won his crown. i told him that i would leave that decision to him and that he should do what he and the order felt was best. so we went ahead with the plan to knight me at pennsic.
im not sure what, if anything, rags was offered but i now that amalric had it planned well before crown.
most guys that can win an atlantian crown are going to be fairly accomplished fighters given the caliber of our kingdoms fighters. we have had a number of unbelted fighters come close recently with a few making it to the finals. so there is little doubt that it will happen again. but, for example, had jonathan beaten me in valharics crown he would be king right now but not a knight. he has more growth ahead before that happens.
and just because its interesting, i know one duke and four counts in the sca that are still not knights. its just more rare here i think.
