My King writes:

This is just a quick note to inform all order principals of a slight wording change that will take place during Our upcoming curia. This is simply to bring Kingdom Law into a more unified and codified set of verbiage. Nothing in the process of choosing new principals will change, the Crown will still solicit the counsel of the orders before making a decision. Again, this is simply a clarification of wording since there are no "votes" and the selection of order principals has never been based purely on a majority rules scenario. Copied below is the current section of law followed, in italics, by the planned revision:

It's less than accurate. It certainly goes to great lengths to downplay the scope and significance of the change. I have written to my Crown to offer my counsel as a peer, but I fear that the King is resolute and will not be swayed. I could write more, but that would be a Bad Thing. You may extrapolate.

Cousin [livejournal.com profile] stitchwitch, I do not think that I will be considering quite the course that you have spoken of, but I fear that this will give further impetus to some significant changes myself -- changes driven in part by non-SCA factors as well.

*sigh*

Update: I have written to both Crown and Coronet (Crown before posting this).

what i said was the wording was flawed and needed to be changed to reflect the actual way the process is handled. atlantian law is an ever changing living document. it constantly needs to be tweaked. this was, and is, nothing more. there was obviously some small level of confusion as to the process and what the relationship is between an order principal and the order / crown.

the town halls are more than just clearing up the confusion a few folks have regarding this change. many topics are brought up and we have a good deal of thought sharing and brainstorming. the one at 12th night covered many topics and i think we are now addressing some of the issues regarding kingdom event bids and why they are as complicated as they are. hopefully some very positive changes will come from what we all discovered by talking through it. lots of questions were answered and everyone ive talked to really apprecaite the open air time.

as for the too much late night.... yeah friday night got really late in a hurry for me too. not sure how that even happened and i sure paid for it saturday night. must learn to save it for saturday night when there are more people around to share it with. ;^)
