It was yummy...

Update: That's a woven mat of baked bacon larded with cheese, rolled up, and cut into slices.

OK, that's just really mean, you know. To post something that looks SO INCREDIBLY delicious and KNOW that I can't have any. I'm upset now. (BTW - what is it? Looks awesome!)

It's a bacon cheese roll.

I can feel my arteries harden just by looking at it. (like I did not have bacon for breakfast this morning)

You made it? You made the bacon cheese roll?

I'll don a hat and tip it, now, and will raise a mug of coffee to you in the morning. Bravo.

Maybe I can see about making another sinfully delectable delectation (http://aht.seriouseats.com/archives/2008/10/the-hamburger-fatty-melt-a-burger-with-two-grilled-cheese-sandwiches-as-its-bun.html) in response... I've wanted to. Now, now that I see these things are a reality being enjoyed by people I know, I may just have to venture forth.

Yep. Just because I could. And it was as excessive as it looks and sounds.

Any suggestions before we make ours?

The bacon mat didn't hold together quite as well as I'd hoped. I don't know if that was from the pool of rendered fat it fried in, or because I didn't let it bake as long as I should have.

I was thinking of cooking the next one on a rack to keep it out of the grease.

I used the sheet of aluminum foil that I wove it on as a rolling accessory (much as the doohickey used for sushi rolls). Something a bit less conductive might have helped, such as a silicone sheet or the like. I used thick cut bacon; thinner might have helped. The roll was a bit bulky.

Thank you.

That looks SO yummy. Especially when I contemplate making something like it with the bacon we can get at the local butcher, which is The Best Bacon Ever (tm) in my book.

That isn't kosher at all.
